This was officially my last wedding of 2013 and it couldn’t have been a more perfect way to end. I like these guys so much and their November wedding was absolutely beautiful.
Ceremony Location: Morning Star Lutheran Church
Reception Location: Marriott Regency, Omaha, NE
Where do I even begin with this wedding? It was absolutely perfect. I am so happy that Kayla and Jeff invited Kevin and I to be part of their wedding on Anna Maria Island, Florida. It was totally a family and close friend affair, which are my favorite.
Kayla’s dad performed the morning ceremony on the beach, while Jeff’s dad and a friend played the music. There wasn’t an official wedding party since everyone that came down was really part of the party so we just did a few quick snapshots of the group and the families on the beach, then everybody headed back to the beach house for some brunch. After some brunch, Kevin and I and Kayla and Jeff jumped on a golf cart and explored around the island a bit, and then we all headed back for some time on the beach and a pool party. Fabulously relaxed, beautiful, and personal. Just what a wedding should be. Congrats to you both!
Ceremony: Ana Maria Island - The beach
Reception: The pink beach house - pool party!
Gosh this couldn’t have been any more perfect. After a VERY cold and snowy engagement session, I was crossing my fingers for beautiful November Nebaska weather for Michelle and Max, and it was absolutely perfect.
St. Johns is one of my very favorite churches (it’s the church Kevin and I got married in so I’m probably a little biased), and I loved their reception at the Durham.
Michelle and Max make everyone feel comfortable and have fun around them, and are an amazing couple. And as I’ve noticed with awesome couples — they have great friends and family too. I’m so lucky I got to be part of this.
Ceremony Location: St. John's
Reception Location: Durham Western Heritage Museaum
I’m so excited that I get to be part of Missy and Rob’s wedding… and not only because it’s in the Dominican Republic. :) These guys are super cool and downtown dwellers too.
Missy is a super talented personal trainer and exercise science professor, and we hit it off so much the first time I met her that I asked if she’d start doing some personal training with Kevin and I. It’s only been a month or so of working with Missy, and dang it’s making a difference. If any of you guys are reading this and interested in some personal training before your wedding, hit me up and I’ll put you in touch with her! Can’t recommend it enough.
Even though they had a super cold winter day for engagement photos, we were still able to get some great shots of these guys. And I LOVE when we start in at couples place. So much more meaningful that way. Incredible view of downtown from their back deck.
January 4, 2014: I loved being part of Marianne and RJ’s beautiful winter wedding. This was the very first wedding I’ve photographed in 2014, and if this is any indication of how wonderful 2014 is going to be, then I’m pumped. Marianne and RJ are were just so happy on their wedding day and are such incredibly warm people that it was really a joy to be part of their day.
Also, they had so many personal touches throughout their wedding that just made it very special. The song RJ wrote to Marianne was one of the most awesome things I’ve heard at a wedding, and Kevin and I were lucky enough to get to hear the sneak preview while he was practicing before the ceremony. Loved Marianne’s long veil made by her mother and her grandmother’s pearl bracelet. And instead of hiding away as guests were coming in, they greeted everyone as they came in for the ceremony, which made things feel very relaxed and intimate. I’ve had the privilege of shooting so many Catholic ceremonies, but I have never seen a rosary ceremony like that and I thought it was beautiful.
Marianne and RJ, hope you enjoy these images! Thanks again for letting Kevin and I be part of it!
Ceremony: St. Columbkille
Reception: St. John Vianney
Nebraska cold windy weather couldn’t put a damper on these engagement photos. Even though the fall can be really unpredictable, its so worth it for the beautiful colors and trees.
I actually really love some wind in photos — gives them a lot of movement and something that just makes the images feel more dynamic. These guys are a great couple and I’m super happy I got to work with them.
This shoot was so much fun. Not only did I get to geek out on photography with Stephanie (she’s a fellow photographer, check out her awesome work here!) but I also got to hang out with these guys in Boulder. Kelly might be one of the nicest guy I’ve met recently and Stephanie and I are just kindred spirits. And they’re getting married in Africa!! How crazy awesome is that???
I’m so lucky that I got to be part of this. Not only was it a gorgeous day, but Ashley and Jason just had so much fun together. And all their friends and family were super great.
Thanks to my favorite second shooter for working with me on this one :)
Ceremony: St. Columbkille
Reception: Bella Terra
Most engagement sessions are around two and a half hours and we change outfits and move to several different locations. This photo shoot was a fun challenge because these guys are going to do a full engagement session in the spring when the weather is nicer, but really just wanted one photo for their save the dates. So I told them that they could come to our building downtown and we could do a 15 minute session right there on the sidewalk of our building. I couldn’t believe I was able to resist the temptation to shoot for longer, but the cold weather definitely helped.
I love so many of these images — especially for such a short session. Really excited for Kate and Alex’s wedding this fall.
